What 6 and 7 String Guitars Sound Like in the Same Song (METAL)
This is a little metal guitar experiment to hear what 6 and 7 string guitars sound like in the same song.
It was an idea from a comment on one of my other videos and something I had never recorded. So I figured why not.
You'll hear the full mix in the beginning and several parts of the song (which I wrote just for this RUclips video).
I also let you hear some individual guitar tracks and explain how I played these parts for both the 6 and 7 string guitars.
***If you'd like a deeper look into the guitars I'm using, I have videos for both:

These 3 Methods Gave Me Confidence in Playing Guitar Solos
Просмотров 7 тыс.День назад
This is a personal video as I'm sharing what I have used over the years to build my confidence in playing guitar solos and more importantly, writing my own solos. Some of these methods may seem unorthodox and may even go against the grain of how many guitar teachers approach practice. That said, I'm only sharing what has helped me; I'm not saying this is how you should or shouldn't practice lea...

'Trapped Under Riffs' - Old-Metallica Style Guitar Lesson

There's one part of Metallica's song Trapped Under Ice (from the Ride the Lightning album) that I always loved. It's a fast alternate-picking riff with a hammer-on in the beginning. Those two metal guitar techniques combined sound powerful and you can use these methods to come up with some killer riffs of your own (which I encourage you to do, always!). I hope this lesson helps you. If so, plea...

Love your channel. I've taken a lot of your advice from equipment to technique. Moving from using Guitar Tabs to using something simpler like "Pages" on apple is complete common sense. I found I also only need the lyrics as a back up "to songs I really know". An app like Guitar tab is excellent to learn on but not reliable to use for a performance. the extra info you don't need and the timing of the "new smart scroll" is very unreliable. Your comment about "use Pages for songs you really know" is wisdom in spades. Keep doing what you are doing, cause its working! Thank you
Is there a tutorial for these riffs specifically
I think you too much talking than tutoring...!
What you don’t like is the thing that many of my subscribers appreciate.
Interesting Video! How is it with a Band, especially live. Doesn't the deeper string bleed into the bass?
great, thanks
Evenly Evenly Evenly triplets not galloping.
2:34 sounds like that one song from Lord of the Rings whenever it shows mordor or orc armys
I like telecasters, but I just can't get over the fact that there's no humbucker because im like a methhead for humbuckers
Killer riffs man!
That was awesome. I'm looking to get a 7 string to go with my 6's so it was great to hear them together along with the explanation of what you were doing. Keep it Metal (6 + 7 = 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘☝️)
Hi Jason , sound awesome together , great idea , Hail and greetings
devin townsend sort of does this, he gets a guy on baritone guitar to fill in any notes on songs that were written on a 7 string. as a 7 string player myself it's good to see people promote playing the 7th string as part of the instrument and not just as a sound effect
Killer tones! 🎸😃👍🏻
This is why I like using 6 and 7 strings. My lead player uses a 6 and I use a 7 for rhythm guitar
My American standard tele is the best built guitar i have. It is solid, never goes out of tune, and sounds amazing for leads. The neck is special. If you get a t style, make sure you play it first. Mine has no body cut and it’s a minor issue, but not comfortable down there.
You just need some 12 gauge strings or something and won’t sound so loose and risk breaking.
The correct tuning just fits the 🔑 of the song. That’s all.
hi what pracice routine do you reccommend for intermediate players
Playing in small space for only few friends and family. I need speaker for vocal and acoustic guitar using mic not pickup, any advice? Thanks
I would still use an acoustic you can plug into your speaker. It’s going to help balance the sound.
@@jasonstallworth I'm playing very old fingerstile blues and traditional Croatian music, both going better with microphone than pickup, just more authentic. Thanks for help.
I'am a great beginner and I've decided to start on a seven strings (the Schecter Omen 7 Ext), a lot of people asked me "but why don't you begin on a 6 strings like everybody?) Because I love this song and I think in music it's important to enjoy what your learn (sorry for my english speaking)
It’s all about what makes you happy, man. I just encourage you to play more than just the low notes
I ended up getting the EV 50m and am considering getting the roller case but it's really expensive and the reviews I've seen have said that it's hard to roll. What is your long term experience with the rolling case?
I’ve never used the EV roller case but I prefer a larger cart like the one I have to carry everything. If you have a roller case for the EV but not everything else, that’s two large components you’re rolling around
Ty my fav guitar teacher 🫡

Very nice, bro. I’m looking into getting a sound card and some kind of drum tool, and this seems like a great way to start learning. Thanks 🙏👍

Does that volume knob get in the way like it does on regular strats?
It's like, raining

do it in one of our Thunderstorms, you'll get your bass, drums and a light show!

Sounds great Sir, I wish I could do that but it NEVER rains in SoCal 👎🏼
We’ve had a dry spell here in FL but now we’re in the ‘it rains a little everyday’ season (and it’s hot and muggy!)
Only 57 comments? Not on my watch!

But guys: it's all still Metal. The "rock" riffs are part of Glam Metal (which is an updated version of 70s Hard Rock, which I call "Proto Metal")
🤘
great tips dude thank you
🙏🏻
O'h come on jason at your level of pro how bib you not notice that the snar is that low you realy carnt hear it so dont let it happen in future mixes coz metal fans like to hear it and sounds better
We’re all learning aid we go and hopefully continue making progress along the way
I noticed the towel as you switched guitars. Underrated piece of on-stage gear!
Oh yeah, the towel is a must, especially outdoor gigs here in FL
Whether you're a shredder or any incarnations of it, A good grasp of the blues is your best foundation because the best players on earth past or present are excellent blues players as well...EVH, Satriani, Malmsteen, Gary Moore, Vito Bratta, Skolnick, Paul Gilbert, Akira Takasaki, Friedman, Guthrie Govan, Rick Graham etc etc all can play sophisticated, suberb blues... It also teaches you to sharpen your improvisational skills
I’ve heard many talk about that, and most of the guitarists I love started with blues. I’ve personally never been a fan of it but with respect, I get it.
Some fast fingering there! Awesome ! That guitar in the rain sounds very relaxing. Happy Sunday, thanks for the music! Greetings from Dominican Republic.

These videos you do are just amazing, man. Thank you for taking the time to help us put our best foot forward. Your wisdom and experience is so universal, its almost a disservice its only being used in the context of live band performance. Keep it up!
Thank you! I’ve considered starting a new channel just for live solo gig tips. I’ve built this channel mainly on metal guitar but playing these solo acoustic shows has become such a big part of my music career. I’d appreciate any thoughts you have
Very clean sound, I likes it!
Thank you! Wife filmed this on her iPhone!!
I've been "practicing" for three years, trying to stick to the book. Believe it or not this is the most I've played following you. I'm angry that I listened to the majority saying I had to learn chords and patterns. This is what I needed.
Man it’s awesome to hear this and glad this helped!
I began learning hard rock/metal guitar in 83'. What helped me learn to solo beside copping licks from my favorite bands, was to learn all scales and modes and how they are harmonically related to chords/substitute chords and their keys. Piano lessons in the late 70's helped also... thanks mom. Also took a year of jazz lessons.. hated it then but appreciate it very much now.
I wish I had picked up piano early on!!
@jasonstallworth visually, piano really helps one understand chord structure., inversions, substitution, voicings, etc. I believe anyone can learn how to use a piano keybed to better understand a little music theory for guitar. It doen't take long. I always suggest taking a few lessons with a piano teacher and guitar teacher at the same time to gain an inter-ralated perspective. It just take a little initiative, love, patience.
What do you call that mess?
Are you talking about your hair? Your life? 🤷
Love the channel Jason, did you get any inside scope about the Gibson situation with Dean? My heart breaks knowing they don't make their classic V and Z shapes anymore.
Man there’s some stuff I’m not at liberty to talk about but I’m hoping to share more soon! Based on what I know, the people I know personally that work there, and having talked to the CEO, Pamela, Dean is doing the right thing and they’re ramping up
Who's Siren? Tell me about Siren!
They’re great friend of mine and awesome band from Tampa, FL. I have an interview with their vocalist (Doug Lee) and drummer (Ed Aborn) here and links to their music are in this video description: ruclips.net/video/SMvSgFrIId8/видео.htmlsi=YwMZscznJDgVjX2I
@@jasonstallworth thanks
"relax" that's all I needed lmfaoo thank you.
😂🤘
Hi death metal vocalist here (i emulate a lot of black metal vocals too form beelzebub to abbath to dimmu to marduk) i never was able to do the high/spectral vocals like behexen, early mayhen, etc... the more i research, the more it seems to be just the added layers (reverb, gain and so on) with just normal black style.. What are your thoughts about it??
Personally I don’t like to add a ton more f effects or overlaying. For me, I need to be able to easily pull it off live so the less I have to rely on technology, the better But yes, adding reverb depth can help tremendously! I don’t add any gain though. I want that part to be raw from my vocal style. That said, I’m a huge believer in focusing on your own unique style
Hey , how do you feel about the Cort Fat II? I saw it at my local music shop and was interested
I’ve only played one Cory guitar and maybe something with them on my channel coming soon
Got it.... awesome stuff as usual sir
